Microsoft Exchange Server 2016 was introduced with two server roles (Mailbox Server Role and Edge Transport Server Role). Now, Mailbox server in Exchange Server 2016 performs all the tasks that were being performed by Hub Transport, Client Access and Mailbox Server roles in legacy Exchange.
